We are excited to offer this, 2 owner from new, 1972 Rover P6 with the 3500 V8 and automatic 3-speed.
First registered on 11/08/1972, this beautiful example has practically lived its whole life on the same street, and only exchanged owners once. This car was first purchased brand new by Mr Derek Read from F. Mitchell LTD in Nottingham in 1972 who kept and maintained the car, using it for everyday use along with his other various Rovers. The current owner had known the owner and the car for many years as they lived on the same street in Nottingham, and in 2009 the time came when Mr Read had decided to start selling his collection, and CTV 724L was swooped up straight away, continuing to live its life in the same area ever since, even being present at the original owner’s funeral.
During its current ownership, the car has undergone extensive mechanical and cosmetic work to bring it to the lovely condition it is in presently. When the current owner first purchased the car, the first work completed was a complete overhaul on the: carburettors, suspension valve gear, and gearbox, and a new stainless exhaust, cooling system, brakes and torque converter. Since the car has travelled about 11,000 miles. The next stage of recommissioning was 10 years ago which saw the car have a total respray back to its original colour, Mexico Brown. All of the panels, except the roof, were taken off the car and were also undersealed during the process, while the o/s rear wing was replaced. More recently it has had a new brake master cylinder and valid MOT in April.
The interior remains extensively original, the original seats have been refinished in the same colour, and the original stereo has been replaced with a modern one, however the original is still with the car. This example was also ordered with a few of the optional extras from the factory including: boot mount kit for the spare wheel, front head restraints and inertia reel seat belts front and rear. Most of the work documented has been undertaken by H. Annabelle’s Classic Rover specialists in Derby.
This car has an extremely well documented history through both ownerships, with lots of invoices, receipts, log book, and also its Rover passport, along with all the Rover manuals, tools and jack. This is a really well presented P6 with an exciting prominence, although not concourse, it is a car to be proud of and will continue being for many years to come, wether as a work horse, or a show piece.
Viewings strictly by appointment only.
