1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II

The Rolls-Royce Phantoms have always been some of the most instantly recognisable symbols of wealth and status, and here for sale is this absolutely exquisite Rolls-Royce Phantom II, built by leading French coach builders, Kitchener and Woodiwiss, registered GSL 153, chassis number 205 GY.

This magnificent car was original purchased by a famous pre-war band leader, Jack Hylton, and then sent to France, to have the elegant bodywork crafted by prominent French coach builders, Kitchener and Woodiwiss. The car was then later sold in 1989, which the buyer then had much restoration work completed by Rolls-Royce specialists, Ristes. The following owner travelled to France on many occasions and took part in the famous Paris to Deauville rallye. The current owner has looked after it since 2006, using it for occasional shows and weddings, but hasn’t been used much.

The work carried out by Ristes included a full engine rebuild along with being fitted with hydraulic power steering. There are plenty of invoices, documenting the extensive and exorbitant process it experienced.  It has been maintained through regular servicing and short trips, retaining its great mechanical condition. It isn’t know if the body is the original one put on the car when it was delivered to France, however previous owners believed it is. The chassis plate is also of the export type to France.

It is highlighted by this beautiful navy and light blue colour scheme, that really fits the car perfectly. The interior is occupied by the lovely grey leather seats, along with the Auster style screen to protect rear passengers, all covered by the beautiful sides screens and convertible roof. Attention may be required for the brake pedal as it has some slight play, and the speedometer cable is broke, along with slight blistering in the paintwork, however it still remains amazing to drive. The engine retains the renowned Rolls-Royce standard, silent and powerful performance, paired with the smooth 4 speed box, totalling up to a very pleasant driving experience.

This car overbears with a presence of status and demeanour to those who see it. It is a real credit to both the passion and craftsmanship of car manufactures of the past, and not only is it this magnificent looking vehicle, it is a reflection of when cars were way more beyond crafted metal, its a symbol of dignity and elegance, an experience gained from having the pleasure to drive such a car.
