1990 MG Metro | 410 Miles from New
We are very excited to offer possibly one of the lowest mileage Metros currently in existence, with only 410 miles from new. This exceptional example comes offered from The Great British Car Journey Collection, where it has been displayed over the last 6 years.
Chassis no. SAXXFWNM1BD903378
Engine no. 12H-F01/108657
Registered in June 1990 and finished in British Racing Green, G992 HOX was one, if not the last, of the final Metros built, and was originally acquired directly by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust from the factory when new. In 2003 the car was sold publicly and subsequently became part of the “James Hull” collection, where it remained amongst many other special and significant marques of the British motoring industry. Following many years in storage, the car was eventually purchased by The Great British Car Journey Museum in 2021, and became one of their most cherished features for the last few years, gaining huge amounts of attention.
As you would expect, the condition is that of an example only ever displayed or preserved, never thoroughly driven, and always kept dry. It is a rare opportunity that we get the pleasure to deal with classic vehicles which are essentially “time machines” and not far off buying it brand new, this being a case in which we don’t use the phrase lightly. It does also currently run and drive, however it has not been driven on the public highway for at least the last 25 years, and as expected of a car only used for display, has not been thoroughly serviced for a large period, therefore any buyer interested to purchase it would be strongly advised to consider and carry out the necessary work and checks.
The only paperwork for it includes the logbook, old MOTs and acknowledgement of the vehicles history from MG and the BMIHT. A lot of James Hulls cars had their history files lost during the time of offloading his collection. However, it does come with the original spare wheel and tool kit.
We don’t need to continue to reinstate the fantastic opportunity available with this Metro, but to consider only 100 out of 140,000 MG Metros made are still road registered, it does make this rather special.
