The Austin 7 was a sensation when originally launched in 1922 and remained in production until 1939. The Austin was a revolutionary car, bringing forward the premise of an affordable and practical car for every man and a car that even women could drive, that had everything you needed from a car. In 1934, Sir Herbert Austin released 3 variants of the Austin 7, the Ruby, Pearl and the Opal. The Opal was a basic, 2 seater version, and the Tourer version wore a new cowled grille, costing a little more. 

 

First registered on 1st January 1938, this stunning Opal was restored sometime during the 1980s, and has only covered around 9000 miles since returning to the road, proved by 13 old MOT records. The car was later purchased in 2013 by an ex-Austin apprentice who had admired the car for many years, cherishing it during his car. He had the car completely overhauled, before then selling it to the current owner, who has since continued to maintain it to the same standard. Invoices show the regular upkeep performed over the years.  More recent work includes a new battery, starter bushes, new head gasket and decoke set, along with general servicing of the brakes, etc. It has been garaged and run occasionally to keep it in this superb condition.

 

This car comes with a complete set of weather equipment (hood, sidescreens and hood cover), along with the period tools. It has plenty of history, documentation, a buff logbook and its original owners handbook.
